Rick and Kay Warren founded Saddleback Church on Easter Sunday in 1980 with 205 people. That day began one of the most exciting journeys of growth that any church has experienced in American history. Rick and Kay knew that a great commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission would grow a great church!
In its 36-year history, God has expanded Saddleback’s influence both nationally and internationally. Saddleback is now a multi-campus church, including four international campuses, with over 400 staff, 500 ministries, and 50 unique internship opportunities. Our church takes the kingdom responsibility of equipping the saints for their ministry seriously, and we are passionate about developing the next generation of Christian leaders—in the church and workplace, arts and media, locally and globally!
The Saddleback Church Internship Program exists to provide a transformational learning and growth experience that will challenge interns in their vocational, relational, and spiritual growth through training, hands-on ministry, authentic community, and encouragement. With so many unique settings, teams, and campuses that interns can be a part of, we are able to provide a unique learning experience to each intern based on their learning objectives, goals, and areas of interest. Every intern will learn to lead and grow as disciples through the intentional training and mentoring they receive.
Saddleback’s partnerships with leading Christian universities and seminaries provide students an accessible pathway to connect with areas of ministry at Saddleback that they are passionate about while developing their leadership and ministry skills, enriching their educational experience.
Nearly 80 interns are trained every year at Saddleback – from global missions to social media, marketing to pastoral ministry, worship to web development. Interns bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and incredible energy to our church family. Our staff values learning and growing alongside them. We are better together!
